Meher Baba's Dhuni

"Dhuni" is known throughout India and many ancient spiritual traditions.  It is the habit of keeping a sacred fire. Some traditions, such as Nath Yogis and some Sufi traditions will not allow this fire to go out. This fire is seen as the "friend" or the companion of the Saint, more than a symbol, and therefore, difficult to explain without going into deeper esoteric terminology or explanation.  Meher Baba also kept a Dhuni, though due to practicality, this Dhuni fire is only lit the 12th of every month in Meherabad, India.
