MEHER BABA IN NEW MEXICO

December 17, 1934, during a half-hour stop of the California-bound train in Albuquerque. Meher Baba suddenly left his train compartment accompanied by close companions and walked a couple of blocks away from the station.  Baba turned down a side street and stopped upon noticing two Native American individuals (identified in records as likely Dinè, Navajo) standing on a corner selling trinkets; one of whom walked away as Baba approached. Meher Baba had contact with the one who stayed and he later told the companions this man was an "Agent".  In Meher Baba's terminology, "Agents" are advanced spiritual figures, often appearing as ordinary people, but are on different inner spiritual planes of consciousness. Through this medium of contact, Masters and Avatars can carry out their spiritual work. This brief stop has been historically noted in chronicles as his encounter with the spiritual "Agent" for North America ~ a spiritually advanced soul of the 4th plane of inner consciousness.
